Subject: Soap Opera In The Yukon
With the always underrated Irene Rich in the cast, this had to be an outdoor drama/womans' picture and it is. Ms Rich is quite good in her only venture to the Monogram Studios. Based on a Jack London story, the picture drags mid-way through, but wins in the end. It's beginning is a little Capra-esque like "Lady For A Day", but doesn't pursue it. Charles Bickford is fine and this may be a bring down from working with Greta Garbo but he's a pro. June Carlson as the ingénue was on loan from 20th Century Fox where she was in a long string of "Jones Family" features and very sharp for her age. Look for Tris Coffin down the credits in an early roll. Film is dark from age but watchable. Soundtrack is fine. You can do worse.
